Amitabh Bachchan promised to build a college in Aishwarya Rai’s name

Back in 2008, Amitabh Bachchan visited Daulatpur village of Barabanki in Uttar Pradesh and laid the foundation stone of a Degree College in the name of his bahu, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. He was accompanied by Abhishek Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan and Aishwarya. Moreover, Samajwadi Party leader, Amar Singh and Mulayam Singh Yadav were also present at the event at that time.

In 2012, the college was renamed Aishwarya Bachchan Girls’ Inter College for higher secondary students. Big B gave a cheque of Rs. 5 lakhs to ABSS for the construction of the building. Reportedly, Amitabh Bachchan had given the responsibility of building the college to the Nishtha Foundation, whose president is Jaya Bachchan. However, the Nishtha Foundation did not build the college and later blamed it on Amitabh Bachchan’s Seva Sansthan. The villagers waited for more than a decade for the college to be built. However, not a brick was laid on the ground.

Amitabh Bachchan left the project of building the college in Daulatpur

After waiting in vain for the project to start, a village teacher’s father donated more than 10,000 square metres of land for the college to be built. When Big B’s foundation stopped the college work, the people of Daulatpur collected funds for it and constructed a college very close to the plot where Amitabh Bachchan’s college was supposed to be. However, till date, it is not known why Big B abandoned the project and left many hearts shattered.
