Alia Bhatt reacts to husband Ranbir Kapoor being labelled ‘toxic’
Alia Bhatt talked about the criticism Ranbir Kapoor received for her recent statements.
She also reacted to people calling him ‘toxic’.
Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor got married on April 14, 2022.
In the latest episode of ‘Koffee With Karan 8’, Alia Bhatt reacted to the internet labelling her husband, Ranbir Kapoor, ‘toxic’ and a ‘red flag.’
For the uninitiated, a few months ago, Alia made headlines after she said that Ranbir doesn’t like her wearing lipstick and would ask her to ‘wipe that off’.
Alia revealed that Ranbir said so because he liked the natural look of her lips. However, there was a massive outrage on social media against Ranbir.
Alia shared her thoughts on the controversy on ‘Koffee With Karan 8’.
She said that Ranbir is the opposite of toxic. Alia was joined on the couch by her sister-in-law Kareena Kapoor.
ALIA BHATT ON ‘TOXIC RANBIR’ CONTROVERSY
In the latest episode of ‘Koffee With Karan 8’, host Karan Johar asked Alia Bhatt, “You have been accused of talking about him a lot?” Alia replied, “I have a very candid way of speaking so even when I’m talking about anything in my life, I like to imitate the person that I’m talking about, I like to give anecdotes, I like to make it personal. I feel like a lot of things just get picked out of context which happened recently. My team told me ‘ye kuch out of hand jaara hai’. I was like, okay theek hai jaane do. Then I realise that there were serious articles written about how he was a toxic man, and I thought, ‘are we serious?’ There are many issues in the world to give more attention to.”
Alia Bhatt added, “The only reason I feel bad is because he is genuinely the opposite. There is a line which I think is being crossed but you cannot say anything about it. Ranbir says this, ‘Alia the audience owns you, they can say whatever the hell they want to say about you, as long as your movies are doing well please don’t complain sitting in your apartment in Bandra.”
WHAT WAS ALIA’S ‘WIPE OFF’ COMMENT ABOUT RANBIR?
Alia Bhatt, during a lipstick applying tutorial for Vogue, mentioned that her husband Ranbir Kapoor likes her natural lip shade and urges her to ‘wipe off’ lipstick.
The reason why she rubs off lipstick after applying it. In the video, she can be heard saying, “The reason I do this, I’ll tell you why, is because a lot of time after eating I touch up my lipstick, I don’t know, I think something about moving the lipstick across my mouth is just way more tedious as opposed to moving my mouth across the lipstick.”
Further adding, “I thought, that was just something that I worked out for myself and then, I rubbed it off. Because one thing my husband [when he wasn’t my husband when he was my boyfriend as well] says when we used to go out at night, he used to say ‘Wipe that [lipstick] off. Wipe that off’. Because he loves the natural colour of my lips.”
This led to massive trolling, with users condemning Ranbir Kapoor for his stance.
Users dropped comments such as “Adulting is realising find your Vicky Kaushal or Ranveer Singh and run from Ranbir Kapoors (sic)”, “The more I listen about Ranbir Kapoor the more I feel scared for her. If your bf/husband is telling you to wipe your lipstick that the biggest sign for you to run! It is not cute or funny at all! (sic).”
