Aishwarya Rai and Salman Khan reportedly got married in a secret ‘nikaah’ ceremony in Lonavala and also went on a honeymoon to New York. However, the actress once strongly reacted to the rumours.

Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai were once hailed among the hottest couples in Tinseltown. The madly-in-love duo never shied away from showing off their love for each other and garnered all the limelight back then. However, as destiny had it, Salman and Aishwarya parted ways on an ugly note. While Ash got married to actor, Abhishek Bachchan, Salman is still enjoying his singledom.

Back then, there were strong rumours in the industry that Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai got married secretly. While there was no confirmation from the duo, the reports stated that it was a nikaah ceremony. The ceremony, which took place in a bungalow at Lonavala, was solemnised by a Kazi from Mumbai. Reportedly, Aishwarya converted to Islam for the wedding which was attended by their close friends.

Later, the ex-couple allegedly went to New York for their honeymoon and were spotted together upon their return to Mumbai. There is no denying that Aishwarya’s parents were always against the idea of their daughter marrying Salman Khan and the rumours worsened the situation for them. Moreover, producers of films starring Aishwarya Rai started worrying about the fate of their films when the reports of her marriage came to light.

During one of the media interactions, Ash shrugged off the reports impatiently and stated that if their wedding had happened, the entire industry would have known about it. She also added that she is not among those people who deny real facts and mentioned that she would proudly announce her marriage to the world whenever it would happen. In her words:

“Wouldn’t the entire industry be aware of it if it had happened? The industry is such a small place, besides I’ve not even had the time to spend with my family after my mom’s accident. I’m not the sort of person to deny something as major as marriage. I’d proudly announce my marriage to the world if it had happened. Also, where is the time to marry? All this is simply ridiculous.”

She mentioned that she endured Salman’s alcoholic misbehaviour in its worst phases and received verbal, physical, and emotional abuse, infidelity, and indignity. So, she decided to end her relationship with him.
