India started their long Test season with a massive 280-run victory over Bangladesh at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai to take a 1-0 lead in the two-match series.

Ravichandran Ashwin was the star of the show and Virat Kohli’s priceless gesture towards the veteran Indian cricketer went viral.

In the first innings of the match, Ashwin rescued India from a spot of bother at 144-6 with the sixth Test century of his career. The 38-year-old made a knock of 113 while putting up a huge partnership of 199 runs with Ravindra Jadeja for the 7th wicket.

Later, Ashwin at his best with the ball in the fourth innings of the game as he took a six-wicket haul to seal India’s massive victory.

Ashwin broke a plethora of records with his incredible all-round display in Chennai as he became the first player in cricket history to score a century and take a five-wicket haul at the same venue in a Test match more than once.

Ashwin had previously achieved the feat during the second Test match between India and England in 2021

On the other hand, playing a Test match after nine months, Virat Kohli had a poor outing as he was dismissed for knocks of 6 and 17 respectively.

In the first innings, the former India captain edged a delivery from pacer Hasan Mahmud to wicket-keeper Litton Das while he was trapped in front of the stumps in his second outing by Mehidy Hasan Miraz.

Replays showed that Kohli had edged the delivery but the 35-year-old did not take a review.
