The One Direction star has passed away aged 31.

Fans around the world are in mourning after former One Direction member Liam Payne was reportedly found dead after falling from his hotel balcony in Buenos Aries.

TMZ reports that the 31-year-old UK singer “plunged” from the third floor of his hotel on Wednesday afternoon local time.

The Strip That Down hitmaker was in South America attending his former band member Niall Horan’s concert on October 2 alongside his girlfriend of two years, Kate Cassidy.

He posted a video on Snapchat saying he was attending the concert as he wanted to “square up a couple of things” with the Irish singer.

“I think we might just go and say hello,” he said, “It’s been a while since me and Niall have spoken.

We’ve got a lot to talk about.

And I would like to square up a couple of things with the boy.

No bad vibes or anything like that. But just, um, we need to talk.”

Fans captured videos of Liam singing and dancing along to Niall’s performance from his box in Movistar Arena.

He later posted selfies of himself and Niall on Snapchat alongside the caption: “Reunited ❤️.”

Niall continued touring around South America following his concert in Argentina, visiting Chile and Peru before ending his tour in Bogota, Colombia on October 9.

It’s unknown if he was still in South America when Liam died.

Liam’s final Instagram post

While he was active on Snapchat on the day of his death, Liam’s final post on Instagram was shared on May 29 in tribute to Morgan Spurlock, who directed One Direction’s 2013 concert film One Direction: This Is Us.

He shared a photo of himself and his One Direction members with Morgan at the New York City premiere of the film alongside the caption: “Rest in peace Morgan Spurlock it was a pleasure working with you ❤️”

The documentary filmmaker, writer, and television producer died from complications of cancer at age 53.

Liam’s final Instagram post was a tribute to director Morgan Spurlock.

Who is Liam Payne?

Liam rose to fame through the boy band One Direction after the group was formed on The X-Factor UK in 2010, and was comprised of himself, Niall, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik.

The band went on an indefinite hiatus in 2016 and Liam subsequently established a solo career releasing two EPS and one studio album, ‘LP1’.

“The day the band ended, I was like, ‘Thank the Lord’,” he told The Diary Of A CEO podcast in 2022.

“I know a lot of people are going to be mad at me for saying that, but I needed to stop or it would kill me.”

He is father to son Bear, who was born in 2017, from his previous relationship with singer Cheryl Cole.

He began dating his girlfriend, influencer Kate Cassidy, in October 2022.
