Actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas and her husband Nick Jonas  had a daughter, Malti Marie, in January 2022, three years after tying the knot. The couple chose surrogacy to become parents because Priyanka had “medical complications,” she revealed. In a recent interview, she shared about freezing her eggs before meeting Nick, at the suggestion of her mother Madhu Chopra, an obstetrician-gynecologist.
In a recent interview with Dax Shepherd, Priyanka opened up about her love for children and how she would rather spend time with them than adults. “I always knew I wanted kids and that was one of the reasons I didn’t want to date Nick because I thought, I don’t know if he’s going to want kids at 25. I love kids, I’ve worked with kids at UNICEF, I’ve volunteered at children’s hospitals, I’m like a baby whisperer and I’d rather spend time with kids than with adults. I love kids, all of our parties are kid-friendly and dogs, at our house you can bring them over anytime,” Priyanka shared.

Later in the conversation, she shared how she froze her eggs when she was in her early thirties and how it gave her a sense of ‘freedom’. She said, “I felt very free, I did it in my early thirties and I could continue on this ambitious path of fighting, I wanted to achieve and I wanted to get to a certain place in my career. Also, I hadn’t met the person I wanted to have children with. So with that anxiety, and with my mother, an obstetrician-gynecologist (obstetrician-gynecologist) said, ’36… go for it’.

Priyanka also shared that she is an advocate of medical egg freezing. She shared, “My mom told me this and I did it myself. I tell all my young friends that the biological clock is real. It is much harder to get pregnant after 35 and carry it to term and all that. Especially for women who have worked all their lives. But science is in such a great place now, if you can afford it, I tell people to save up for a car, do it for Christmas, it is the best gift you will give yourself because you are using the power of your biological clock. You can work until you want, your eggs will be the same age as when you froze them.”
