In a positive turn of events, the International Cricket Council (ICC) recently released the latest Test rankings for batters. India’s ODI and Test skipper Rohit Sharma leads the Indian pack with his new number five rank. He is followed by left-hand batter Yashasvi Jaiswal and Virat Kohli at number seven.

Interestingly, after Joe Root’s twin-century magic, he holds the number one spot with 899 points in the ICC rankings for Test batters. He is followed by New Zealand’s Kane Williamson and Daryl Mitchell, with 859 and 768 points, respectively. Australia’s Steven Smith is in fourth place with 757 points.

Babar Azam’s Latest ICC Test Ranking

Despite, a poor run in the recently concluded Pakistan vs Bangladesh Tests, Babar Azam has jumped up a spot in the ICC Test rankings. He currently sits at the 11th spot with 712 points in the bag.

In both the Rawalpindi Tests, Babar was dismissed for paltry scores of 0, 22, 11 and 31. He has not slammed a half-century since December 2022.

Kohli-Rohit and Jaiswal likely to improve rankings after IND vs BAN Tests

Yashasvi Jaiswal, who impressed spectators with his brilliant double centuries against England earlier this year, is expected to return in full style. Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma who was also last seen in the England Tests, will return as he leads the Indian contingent.

On the other hand, Virat Kohli who was last seen in South Africa vs India Tests at Cape Town in January 2024, will be making an appearance in the Test sceneario after eight months.

With the sight set on the upcoming India vs Bangladesh Tests, there are strong chances that the Rohit-Jaiswal and Kohli trio will likely thrive and jump up the ladder even further.
